These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Author Desk ("the Service"), operated at myauthordesk.com by Nimrod Klemer, a sole proprietor based in Israel ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms.

1. Your Account

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Author Desk. If you are under 18, you may only use the Service with the permission of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use of the Service.

2. Your Content & Intellectual Property

You own everything you write. Author Desk does not claim any ownership or intellectual property rights over the documents, characters, notes, or any other content you create using the Service.

You grant us a limited license to store, process, and transmit your content solely to operate the Service — for example, to save your documents, generate AI responses you request, and create search embeddings. This license ends when you delete your content or your account.

3. AI-Generated Content

Author Desk provides AI-powered tools (writing assistance, Librarian chat, character generation) that use third-party AI models. You should be aware that:

AI outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate. You are responsible for reviewing and editing any AI-generated content before publishing.
Portions of your document content are sent to third-party AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI, and Google) when you use AI features, including behind-the-scenes steps that improve search relevance. These providers do not use your content to train their models. See our Privacy Policy for details.
You may use AI-generated content in your published works. We make no representations about the copyright status of AI-generated text.

4. Plans, Billing & Cancellation

Author Desk offers Free, Pro, and Max plans. Paid subscriptions are billed in advance, monthly, through Polar, who acts as our Merchant of Record. This means Polar processes your payments and any refunds and collects and remits any applicable sales tax or VAT. By subscribing to a paid plan you authorize recurring charges until you cancel.

Cancellation. You can cancel your subscription at any time from the Billing page. Access continues until the end of the current billing period, and you will not be charged again after that.
Deleting your account. You can permanently delete your entire account and all associated data at any time from the Billing page; doing so also cancels any active subscription. See our Privacy Policy for what this removes.
Refunds.Because subscriptions are billed in advance and you can cancel at any time before renewal, paid periods are generally non-refundable and we do not prorate the current period. That said, we will issue a fair refund for an accidental charge or a plan that just renewed and that you have not used — just email support@myauthordesk.com.
AI usage is subject to monthly credit limits based on your plan. Unused credits do not carry over.
We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice. Existing subscribers will be notified before any price change affects their renewal.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service to generate or distribute content that is illegal, harmful, or violates the rights of others
Attempt to circumvent rate limits, plan restrictions, or security measures
Reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Service's infrastructure
Share your account or resell access to the Service

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

6. Published Content

Author Desk allows you to publish documents publicly. You are solely responsible for the content you publish. We reserve the right to remove published content that violates these Terms or applicable law.

7. Service Availability

We strive to keep Author Desk available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We are not liable for any data loss — you are encouraged to export your documents regularly.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Author Desk's total liability to you for any claims arising from use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or an in-app notice at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts located in Israel. Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have under the laws of your country of residence.
